Japan – Day 2 (Tokyo)

Very early day! Started off heading to the Fish Markets at 7am to check out what was happening. An abundance of fish and crustations! Followed on to having sushi in the fish markets. The line up took about an hour, but the sushi was great. Went to Ueno (found one in Akihabara too) to look for one of these Donki Kingdom’s (Don Quijote). It’s basically a discount department store with all sorts of random stuff. Look for the crazy blue dude on the building (pic attached below).

After checking out this place, the majority of the day was spent at Akihabara. Bit of a techno gadget town with crazy girls dressed up in manga outfits. I found it hard to really find anything I couldn’t get back at home (Australia). There was just too much stuff, and none of it I could say was “cheap”.

Dinner was spent on Kitchen Street in the Tokyo subway (2nd floor). The place we picked out was great! The Japanese food no matter where I’ve been has been good so far!

 Until tomorrow!

PS. I’ve noticed a lack of fresh milk and fruit in Japan. Not missing it yet, but I’m sure I will. Noticed that 6 ugly looking oranges that I could’ve picked off my own tree in my backyard at home cost 1000 yen here. Not much meat (beef) is available either, and the servings are fairly small when it does have meat.
